Press Release Summary: Telesoft Technologies announces that its OKEFORD Media Platform has been certified as VoiceXML 2.0 compliant by the VoiceXML Forum.
Press Release Body: Blandford, England, 16th June 2008 - Telesoft Technologies, a leading provider of carrier-grade next generation Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems, announced today that its OKEFORD Media Platform has been certified as VoiceXML 2.0 compliant by the VoiceXML Forum. The VoiceXML Forum is a global industry organization chartered to promote and to accelerate the adoption of VoiceXML-based applications.
The VoiceXML language allows system integrators (SI) and OEMs to quickly develop voice-controlled services for customer care (bill payment, mobile top-up, etc) and value-added services (directory assistance, news, televoting, etc) on the OKEFORD Media Platform. It uses VoiceXML to control up to 500,000 calls per hour in 24 languages and with up to 8 different simultaneous applications from a single unit.
"The OKEFORD Media Platform allows our SI and OEM partners to create services valued by subscribers and create new revenue streams for Telecom Service Providers," said Andy Evripides, VP Sales & Marketing, Telesoft Technologies. "VoiceXML platform certification demonstrates our commitment to open standards and interoperability where customers can use the best-of-breed tools and applications to quickly develop valued services."
VoiceXML (Voice Extensible Markup Language) is specifically designed to support interaction via voice, while HTML, for instance, is designed to support text interaction. Its major advantage is to allow web-based creation of IVR applications. It's designed to handle automated speech recognition (ASR), text-to-speech (TTS), audio files, touch-tone and voice recording.
VoiceXML allows fast development of speech recognition routines for media platforms. VoiceXML is important as it allows portions of code to be reused in other developments and can be easily ported to different underlying hardware to drive rapid deployment of new systems into the field.
"VoiceXML platform certification has helped to mature the industry by encouraging the cross-vendor interoperability of platforms, tools, and applications," said Ken Rehor, chair of the VoiceXML Forum's Conformance Committee. "We congratulate Telesoft on its recent certification."
